Fellowship Village at Basking Ridge - Cultural Arts Center & Commons Renovation
Basking Ridge, NJ
Fellowship Village has a population of 450 residents and a high demand for enrichment programs. An existing 80 seat multipurpose room was inadequate both in capacity and technology and needed to be replaced with a larger venue. Collaborating with two regional performing arts organizations and a team of theater design specialists, KDA Architects designed a state of the art auditorium that provides the setting for presenting high quality and diverse programming in an appropriate setting.
Designed for flexibility, the auditorium has 140 retractable seats with the capacity for an additional 100 floor seats to accommodate large productions and events. The retractable seating allows for an entirely open floor for banquet seating.
As part of this project, the main community spaces were renovated to complement the new auditorium and bring in more daylight to a new great room and lounge. The auditorium lobby is adjacent to the bistro and its wood curtain wall allows views to the community green, the main entrance, the entry porches, and an intimate garden courtyard.
