The Osborn's Greatly Anticipated Resident Social Lounge
This project stemmed from requests by the residents of The Osborn's Independent Living community for a central gathering area that would support a variety of functions including book club meetings, causal meet-ups over coffee, or a place to simply relax and enjoy the fire. Our design approach was guided by the intimate understanding The Osborn's management team has of their residents’ preferences and tastes, both as individuals and as a collective community.
During the design and construction phases, the space presented several challenges due to concrete construction, low floor to floor heights, and asymmetrical utility obstructions. Our design team creatively designed around these challenges, resulting in elevated amenity spaces that both embrace the timeless aesthetic of the historic campus while infusing a newer classic transitional design (or vision) for the future. The layout and scale strike just the right balance for residents to feel comfortable using the space on their own or in varying group sizes. Construction completed in time for some wonderful holiday celebrations:
"On behalf of Chris, myself and The Osborn team, we just wanted to take a moment to thank you and your team for all your hard work over the past year. From the Sterling Lounge and Auditorium to the more recent renovations of the new mail room and Resident Social Lounge – everything has been a huge success and is being enjoyed by the residents.
The Social Lounge has quickly become a favorite spot for residents to gather, enjoy coffee, read a book, or even share a pour of scotch from their personal storage lockers. We decided to use the new Social Lounge for a holiday music gathering, It worked out perfectly, and everyone had a great time!"
