Crane’s Mill - Town Center Renovation

The Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey engaged KDA to remodel its Town Center. The main community spaces at Crane’s Mill had not been fully renovated in over two decades. The poorly lit spaces were not conducive to engagement and socializing. A single café provided the only option for casual dining. A small pub area had been introduced to an adjacent game room a few years prior, but it was inadequate for the changing needs of the community. An unprotected roof deck was usable only in the finest weather.

Lighting design and interior design played a significant role in rejuvenating the Town Center commons spaces and rebranding of the community image. The pub was relocated and placed as a main attraction within the Commons. The KDA design team achieved the goal of recreating the spaces as lively, bright, and welcoming by adding larger windows, adding variety to the finishes and improving the flow of spaces to include a renovated all-season porch.
