Daughters of Israel - Campus Repositioning
West Orange, NJ
In response to increased regulation and decreased funding for skilled nursing, The Daughters of Israel engaged KDA Architects to diversify their services by reducing the skilled nursing program and creating a new Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) at their existing site.
The buildings on the property did not meet the current design standards for skilled nursing facilities. KDA re-imagined the footprint, and designed a campus that contained 160 apartments, 60 Assisted Living suites (36 Assisted Living Memory Care Suites/ 24 Assisted Living Suites), and 80 Skilled Nursing Suites.
The new program aligns with the Daughters of Israel mission and long-term goals of providing a comprehensive and coordinated continuum of health and social services to the Jewish elderly and others in need, while positioning the organization to remain financially secure, without sacrificing quality.
