Jefferson’s Ferry - Campus Repositioning

 Jefferson’s Ferry is a not-for-profit life plan community established in 2001 on Long Island, New York. The community is located on an approximately 50-acre site and serves residents through 220 independent living apartments, 28 independent living cottages, 60 assisted living units and 60 nursing beds.

Jefferson’s Ferry recently completed a strategic planning process that identified the expansion and repositioning of the campus as a key priority. As a member of the project team, KDA provided master planning and conceptual design services for the assessment of the financial viability of the repositioning. The healthcare component of the master plan includes the construction of 20 new special needs assisted living units and the repositioning/expansion of health center amenities with an emphasis on meaningful outdoor spaces for recreation and socializing. Existing areas of natural vegetation requiring removal to make way for the expansion will be re-created on the slopes of the stormwater pond to provide soil stabilization and wildlife habitat.
