Seashore Housing - Affordable & Special Needs Housing

The Seashore Gardens Foundation engaged KDA to design Seashore Housing, a 58-unit residence for low and moderate income seniors and individuals with special needs. The facility is located on the campus of Seashore Gardens - a full service skilled nursing and assisted living facility.
Seashore Housing abounds with easily accessible, flexible indoor and outdoor living spaces. A shared public patio overlooks the campus entrance drive - a fine place to watch the daily comings and goings of campus life. Porches provide shade and security while extending the days that residents can enjoy the outdoors. A community room offers meals and activities, and a club room with a fireplace, library and TV - all of which promote social interaction.
The building was created using modular construction, and the residential units are larger than typical affordable housing units. A typical 722 SF unit features an accessible private patio or balcony – an uncommon feature in affordable housing, which adds to the quality of life of residents who often have mobility limitations.
